Hemp

The primary regulating mechanism for healing and homeostasis in the body is the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The endocannabinoid system is also involved in learning and memory processes.

There are two main classes of endocannabinoid receptors in the body, CB1 and CB2. They have different roles and primary locations.

CB1 receptors are mostly found in the brain, eyes, gut and skin. Their main role is for optimizing of cognitive function by maintaining the glial detoxification system. CB1 receptors in the brain are found specifically in the basal ganglia and limbic system, including the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, amygdala, hypothalamus, cerebellum. CB1 receptors are also found and in both male and female reproductive systems.

CB2 receptors are almost exclusively found in the immune system, including the skin and gut, with the greatest concentration in the spleen. CB2 receptors are responsible for the anti-inflammatory effects of cannabis.

Both CB1 and CB2 receptor cells in the skin, called keratinocytes, are found in hair follicles, sebaceous glands, sense receptors and immune cells.

CB1 receptors are heavily involved in vision. There are many CB1 receptors in the retina and the primary visual cortex. CBD oil has been found to improve vision for this reason.

Effective delivery into the cells of the full entourage of the cannabinoids found in the hemp plant is necessary for rapid therapeutic benefits. Cell membranes are lipid walls, and can only take in similar sized lipids. The typical size of animal cells are 10–30 µm, and cell organelles such as mitochondria are typically 1-2 µm. There are three groups of liposomes or vesicles, based on their size: small unilamellar vesicles (SUVs) with a size range of 20–100 nm, large unilamellar vesicles (LUVs) with a size range of 100–1000 nm and giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) with a size range of 1-200 µm. Most CBD oils are in the GUV range, and have very low bioavailability up to 10% and are slow acting, entering the blood in an hour or so.

The smallest liposomal size CBD product on the market is an entourage hemp oil called Recept . This is in the SUV range, at 20nm, is 85% bioavailable, and enters the blood in minutes. Recept also contains the highest CBG content per dose. It has 30mg of CBG and 500mg of the entire hemp extract per dose.

The 20nm liposomal rapid delivery of CBD and CBG in Recept are its key to its power of rapid absorption and healing. CBG serves as the precursor phytocannabinoid to many others, including CBD itself. CBG is the equivalent to the stem cell part of the hemp plant, found mostly in young hemp plants in very small quantities.

Directly effecting the cannabinoid receptors, CBG provides very important benefits that support preventative, chronic, and acute care. CBG is neuro-protective and neuro-regenerative.

The known benefits of CBG which have been verified by research are:

  • Anti-bacterial properties
  • Promotes neuro-regeneration/protection
  • Supports bone health
  • Improves mood and gut health
  • Supports sleep
  • Natural Analgesic
